<>虎门大桥东起虎门，西接番禺，横跨珠江口，全长15.78公里，沟通广东东西两翼东莞虎门及广州番禺，虎门大桥飞架珠江口，是我国第一座大型悬索桥，其主航道跨经888米，居我国前列，被誉为“世界第一跨”。该桥总投资近30亿元，其悬索桥部分均采用钢箱焊接，共用钢材2万多吨。桥的主缆长16.4公里，每根主缆由13970根直经为5.2毫米的镀锌高强钢丝组成，如果将两根主缆的钢丝拉成一条钢绳，足可绕地球一圈。</P>
